Disk Encryption: Full Disk Encryption (FDE) secures the entire hard drive or a specific partition by encrypting the data. This approach encrypts all the data when the computer is turned off and typically requires a password or a hardware key to access it. Popular disk encryption tools include BitLocker (for Windows) and File Vault (for macOS).
File Encryption: File-based encryption allows for the encryption of specific files and folders, decrypting only those files when access is needed. This is particularly useful when only certain data needs to be protected, and users can choose which data to secure.
